POINT4PAC – Precision Oncology by Innovative Therapies and Technologies

Abstract/Aim
MARE-Polytechnic of Leiria is one of the partners of this national project focused on antitumoral drug discovery. MARE-Polytechnic of Leiria will yield to the project novel bioactive anticancer molecules obtained from red seaweed, plants and synthetic molecules with presumptive antitumoral activity. An exhaustive screening of macroalgae epiphytic, aquatic and soil bacteria from MARE-Polytechnic of Leiria biobank and from commercially available marine and environmental microorganisms collections will be conducted, and followed by the isolation and structure elucidation of the relevant compounds. The most prominent ones will be provided to the project for further testing and optimization according to the standard drug discovery workflow.
