PMAR – Radioactivity Environmental Monitoring Programme

Abstract/Aim
The main objective of the Programme for the Environmental Monitoring of Radioactivity (PMAR) is to quantify radioactivity in food and the environment. The results of this programme will make it possible to assess public exposure to ionising radiation of natural and artificial origin and verify that the dose limit for members of the public is not exceeded, i.e. no more than 1 mSv per year. It will also make it possible to identify accidental releases of radionuclides and their origin.
