Berlenga Barnacles – contribution for sustainable management

Berlenga Barnacles – contribution for sustainable management

Abstract/Aim
This project aims to be a contribution for the management and valorisation of Berlenga goose barnacle. Management measures for resource protection will be defined by combining stock assessment and fishing effort estimates. The analysis of specific biogeochemical markers for Berlenga goose barnacle will add value to this resource and will allow rapid and reliable abuse detection of the designation of origin. It can also aid authorities in the detection of illegal captures in a forbidden region since organisms from each region should contain specific signatures in their biogeochemical composition.
