i.FILM – Multifunctional Films for Intelligent and Active Applications

Abstract/Aim
The project aims to develop a new product and manufacturing process for ultrathin thermoplastic films with multifunctional characteristics through the production of thermoplastic film by extrusion and using the processes of electrospinning, forcespinning and electrospray for the production of nanofibers. This project aims, among other materials, to use marine macroalgae extracts for the production of the nanofibers to be used in the ultrathin thermoplastic films, taking into account their antioxidative properties that may contribute to increase the shelf-life of the packed products. i.FILM system validation will be carried out in food packaging.
